Tehassi tasi Hill for Vice Chairman of Indian Gaming Association
Strengthening Tribal Sovereignty Through Unification.
SHARED GROUND. STRONG VOICE. ONE DIRECTION
Indian gaming continues to provide many critical resources that power government services, community programs, and long‑term economic growth. As tribal governments expand their capacity to deliver these essential services; protecting the revenue streams that make progress possible remains extremely important.
The Indian Gaming Association has long played a central role in this effort. Through steadfast advocacy, strong regulatory leadership, and a clear commitment to sovereignty, the organization has worked to ensure that tribal gaming remains not only secure, but respected, and thriving.
Today, tribal nations face new challenges—alongside the historical ones we navigate every day. History also reminds us of our greatest strength: unity. When tribal nations come together with the same resolve our ancestors carried in their fight for our survival, we do not fail. We are not only survivors—we are a people who have learned to thrive in the harshest conditions.
While today’s political climate is chaotic – our communities have faced and have overcome far greater obstacles. We have learned to bob and weave the political swing and most importantly, win. By grounding our actions in our shared values, culture, and collective strength, we can meet the moment and shape the path forward.

This corn is seed from the same corn that the Oneida shared with General George Washington’s starving troops at Valley Forge. The Oneida have been proud warriors in every military conflict on the side of the United States since the Revolutionary War.
When General Washington’s troops were stranded at Valley Forge, Oneida brought several hundred bushels of this corn to feed the troops. They were so ravenously hungry, they had to be held back from the corn before it was cooked. To honor the Oneida woman, Polly Cooper, who cooked for the troops, Martha Washington gifted her a shawl. During this 250 year anniversary of the United States, a commemorative coin has been created to honor Polly Cooper.
