September is Suicide Prevention Month: Supporting One Another, Strengthening Our Community

September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, encourage conversations about mental health, and remind our community that help is available. At the Oneida Nation Comprehensive Health Division, we recognize that emotional wellness is an important part of overall health. By supporting one another with compassion, understanding, and respect, we can help reduce stigma and create a stronger, healthier community for future generations.

Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of age or life experience. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether you are experiencing stress, grief, depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, or thoughts of self-harm, you do not have to face those struggles alone. Oneida Behavioral Health provides culturally sensitive services that support individuals and families in restoring harmony in mind, body, and spirit.

Community members are encouraged to check in with family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. A simple conversation can make a meaningful difference. Listening without judgment and offering support can help someone feel connected and valued.

If you or someone you know needs support, resources are available:

  • Oneida Behavioral Health: (920) 490-3790
  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988, available 24/7.
  • Brown County Crisis Center: (920) 436-8888
  • Outagamie County Crisis Center: (920) 832-4646
  • For emergencies or immediate danger: Call 911.

Together, we can foster hope, healing, and resilience. During Suicide Prevention Month and throughout the year, let us continue caring for one another and reminding those who are struggling that they are not alone.
