Be Part of the 2026 Kunhi-Yo Conference: Share a Story, Honor a Life

By Mari Kriescher, Oneida Behavioral Health Director
One story can inspire hope. One memory can honor a life. By sharing stories of recovery and remembrance, we can reduce stigma, raise awareness about drug overdose, and remind one another that no one is alone.
As part of the 2026 Kunhi-Yo “I’m Healthy” Conference, held August 28 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Oneida Hotel, Oneida Behavioral Health invites community members to take part in two meaningful opportunities.
Honor a Loved One
The Kunhi-Yo Memorial Wall is a place of remembrance for individuals whose lives were impacted by substance use or overdose. Families and friends are invited to submit a loved one’s name, photo, and story to celebrate their life and create a lasting tribute during the conference.
Share Your Recovery Story
Recovery is possible, and every journey is unique. By sharing your experience, you can encourage others, reduce stigma, and remind those who may be struggling that they are not alone. There are several ways to share your story:
- Upload a video
- Submit photos with a written story
- Record an interview with our media staff
- Share live during the conference open mic
Every Story Matters
To submit a Memorial Wall tribute or Recovery Story, visit the Kunhi-Yo Conference webpage at https://oneida-nsn.gov/resources/health/behavioral-health/kunhi-yo/#Event-Information. To schedule a pre-recorded interview with our staff, please reach out to Will Bartel for scheduling (wbartel@oneidanation.org). Memorial Wall tributes and Recovery Stories must be submitted by August 24, 2026, to be included in the 2026 Kunhi-Yo “I’m Healthy” Conference.
